Encoder Cable Assembly | Sensor Harness Manufacturer
Sensor and encoder cable assemblies with shielded pairs, drain termination and continuous-flex construction, terminated to M8, M12 or encoder connectors.
Sensor & Encoder Cable Assembly: what we build
An encoder cable carries a differential signal at a frequency where a few picofarads of imbalance will show up as a counting error. The shield and the pair geometry therefore matter more than the conductor size, and both have to survive the flexing the axis imposes.
The assemblies we build use overall-shielded, fine-stranded multi-conductor cable from the UL flexible industrial control series, terminated into the circular connector the drive or encoder uses. Power, A/B/Z channels and, where the motor has one, a temperature-sensor pair travel in the same jacket so the axis has one cable to manage.
Channel continuity and shield integrity are recorded per assembly. A drain that reads open at one end is the kind of fault that produces an intermittent count loss nobody can reproduce on the bench, which is exactly why it is checked before the cable leaves.
How we build it
- Power, A/B/Z and optional temperature pairs combined in one jacket
- Overall braid shield with drain, or individually shielded pairs where the schematic needs them
- M8, M12, M23 and encoder connector series terminated with torque-controlled shells
- Fine-stranded construction rated for the flex cycles the axis runs
- Channel continuity and shield integrity verified and recorded per assembly
- Moulded backshells that hold the minimum bend radius at the connector exit
Wire we build this harness on
Every conductor is Xinya wire from this site's own catalogue, so the style inside the harness can be traced to a published data sheet. These are the lines most often specified for this application:
- UL20549 TPU-jacketed shielded cable, 80 °C
- UL20276 compact shielded multi-conductor cable
- UL20626 TPE multi-conductor cable
- UL2464 shielded multi-conductor cable
- UL10800 shielded FRPE jacket cable
- UL1533 shielded SR-PVC single-conductor cable
If your drawing names a style that is not listed here, ask — the catalogue published on this site is a subset of what the factory runs, and we can quote against a style number as easily as against a description.
How to get a quotation
Send the drawing, the sample, a photograph with a scale in shot, or a table of from-to points. Our reply names the wire style, the connector series, the crimp specification, the sleeving and the test method, so your engineers can approve the part rather than interpret a description. Nothing on this site carries a price: every harness is quoted against the specification you provide.
